Excellent communication throughout the donation process is critical. Donor Network of Arizona (DNA) staff coordinate huddles with hospital staff prior to the introduction of the donation conversation to the family, and at other times as necessary. In addition to DNA staff, team members invited to participate in the huddle may include the bedside nurse, unit supervisor, operating room staff, attending physician, fellow, resident, respiratory therapist, chaplain and/or social worker.
